The Royals wrapped up a tidy little victory over the Houston Astros tonight. It was a much-needed win over a crappy team. Here are some observations:
The Royals scored at least 4 runs for the 5th time this season. Coincidentally, the Royals have won all 5 of those games. That also means that they have lost all of the games where they scored 3 runs or less. A record of 5-7 isn't the worst thing in the world. If the bullpen had managed to hold on against the Twins this past Sunday, they would be 6-6 and Royals Nation might be feeling just fine today.
Just as important as scoring 4 runs, the Royals hit a home run, only their 2nd of the season. Omar Infante drilled one over the fence, his first as a Royal.
Billy Butler managed to hit his 6th RBI on a sacrifice fly. It was Billy's first contact that did not result in a groundout in ages.
Yordano "Ace" Ventura looked amazing, throwing enough heat to warm a small Alaskan village for a month. Along with Salvador Perez, the Royals have two bona fide young superstars. When was the last time the Royals could say that?!? Look at the picture below of Ventura. Can't you easily imagine jet propulsion flames kicking into high gear as the ball leaves his hand? If Omar Infante had been drilled by a Ventura pitch instead of Heath Bell, he would undoubtedly have suffered a concussion. His changeup averaged 88 MPH tonight. You cannot hit that. Neither can the rest of the MLB. ONLY 5 DAYS UNTIL VENTURA PITCHES AGAIN.
Greg F. Holland got the save. He looked like his old self. Maybe beating up on the Astros is what the Royals need to get some SWAGGER back. Bring on the stupid Twins!!!!!!
